A tailor’s clapper is used in conjunction with steam to reduce bulk and create a crisp and flat seams.
To use, lay your garment on a flat surface and apply steam and then immediately press firmly with the clapper for a few second.
This clapper is made from Victorian Ash which is a non-porous Australia timber. Using steam on timber can result, after some use, in a furry finish. Use a mid to light weight sandpaper (180 grit) to rub it back to a smooth finish.
